Ocin

OCIN is a sustainable lifestyle and swimwear brand, making suits out of 100% recycled polyesters from plastic bottles saved from landfill, and recycled nylon in fabrics.  The collections are designed within an earthy palette that pays homage to colours found in nature. Very Polite executed all photography for both catalogue and campaigns for their inaugural ‘CHAPTER I’ collection (shot in LA) and their most recent ‘Chapter II’ launching soon.

There are countless swimwear brands out there, so we wanted to find a way to shoot OCIN products in a way that highlighted the uniqueness of this particular brand. On that note, we ultimately designed lighting specifically for OCIN that kept the consistency of a catalogue shoot, but with the added depth of “real-life” outdoor details to elevate the brand aesthetic and connect it back to nature.

Our photography team created specific lighting techniques to mimic how the sun would naturally fall – casting shadows and subtle contrasts that feel as though the model is outdoors on a sunny day, rather than in a studio. More nuanced, less flat.

This style of shooting and creating atmosphere is not only unique to the brand, but also to the swimwear catalogues in general, where typically traditional lighting techniques are exclusively used. In addition, Very Polite managed the full production which included casting, hair and makeup, and styling for both catalogue (including third party brands) and campaigns.
