Gillian Segal Design

Walk into the Very Polite office and you’ll be met with industrial concrete floors, luxe yet minimal black and marble accents, and a punch of yellow carpet on the floor. Though we’d like to take the credit for the striking aesthetic, it’s really the work of interior designer turned client, Gillian Segal Design.

Gillian Segal Design offers a range of design services specializing in luxury residential and hospitality projects. As a full-service design firm, they deliver both full build architectural initiatives and decorative projects. Everything at the core of the brand felt right, but there were a few opportunities for us to update the website to enhance the user experience, clarify messaging across all channels, and refresh branded content, collateral and brand voice.

BRAND COLOURS

Very Polite started by worked closely with the Gillian Segal team to develop a Brand Book with new creative direction, relevant complimentary style guidelines and brand voice pillars to inform their content strategy. This also involved designing a new logo, business cards, stationery and custom brand colour palette that suited Gillian Segal’s sophisticated and bold approach to design. We worked with a classic Trade Bold Extended font for a custom watermark intended to create memorable and signature imagery. The company logo was designed to be refined yet playful, with interchangeable colour options — because sometimes you want to say something in a ‘Rose’ not a ‘Marigold.’

After establishing an appropriate visual direction, we concepted and captured the remaining assets — corporate headshots / team images/ company creative assets and various website imagery. Building and re-launching a new website to host the new direction was the final step for this project, to ensure consistency across all external-facing platforms.
